Collected Cool – Oak Bay Living Room
Another recent project just wrapped! This time it was an Oak Bay living room with clients who have traveled extensively and collected some great mementos from their adventures. Needless to say I was stoked to decorate with all their stuff. They were a dream to work with and the results are awesome. Check it out below (click on the images to enlarge) and in my portfolio…
A classic vintage cigar leather couch with mid century lines was the first purchase and we topped it with some custom pillows I made for them.
The red ones were made using a Guatemalan fabric piece the clients had for years… and they turned out great! Cute hanging succulent from Picot in Fernwood.
The Kilim rug is a vintage piece that needed repair so we had it cleaned and restored and then layered it over a larger Jute rug.
The rustic coffee table from west elm is my go-to storage solution for busy families and it works great in this small space.
It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t mix in some bargain vintage and my clients scored this cute little walnut sideboard at Charmaine’s on Fort St. Love them! We chose some pieces from their art collection and created a colourful little gallery splash on the wall above the hi-fi.
An inexpensive but super stylish quadrant of B/W photos makes a quieter statement on the opposite wall.
This wing-back chair needed some TLC but it had been in the clients family for years so we could only trust it to Kory Larsen of KL Design Furniture. Kory lovingly restored it and recovered it in a Navy fabric that totally brought it back to life. It’s a stunner!
I styled the mantel with their trinkets and artifacts which resulted in an eclectic mix of collected cool. Some items are priceless, and others were $2. You’ll never guess:)
