Pillows…Finally

Written by on 28th February 2014 in Blog POSTS with 1 Comment

It’s been awhile since I had the time to make pillows. Sure, Ive taken some custom jobs here and there but those were for other people. I make pillows like my little pets and I love them and take care of them until they are adopted by a nice family:)  So, I’m happy to announce that the fabric is here and the sewing will commence this weekend so that I will have some new pillows…Finally!  Some of them will be spoken for immediately for client spaces but I am committed to staying on top of my sewing to keep some inventory on hand this year.  If you have any requests be sure to send me an email. Big thanks to Donna, Danisha and Matthew at the Design District Studio Inc for hooking me up with all this loveliness!

Pretty Pillows

Written by on 5th February 2014 in Blog POSTS with 1 Comment

I’m obsessing over pretty pillows and little girl bedrooms at the moment. This weekend I’m doing another install of a little girl bedroom and I want the sheets and pillows to play nice together. This pic from John Robshaw’s line is pretty fantastic and totally something I would choose for a girls room…

My client has a softer side, and she’s going for the soft and pretty look – like these linens from Restoration Hardware.

resthOf course, she’s the boss so we are definitely going pretty and soft, but I’m mixing in some patterns and a little colour too…you know,  just to keep things interesting.  My foundation piece for the linens is this pale violet duvet cover from Restoration Hardware.

Come back next week and see if I was able to pull it together?

Wonderful Washroom

Written by on 30th September 2013 in Blog POSTS with 0 Comments

This week I made a trip up island to visit a client who had a sad dark kids/guest bathroom.  The goal was to add some light and vitality to the space by painting it and then simply decorating with some vintage and retro bathroom accessories and pillows (made by yours truly).  I even made the red piped seat cushion which currently holds the record for largest cushion I’ve ever made – it’s just over 7 feet long.  What a great spot for mom while the kids have their bath!

We chose this terrific dusty navy shower curtain from West Elm – …I loved it so much I got one for myself too….

The vintage french soap sign was a great deal through an online poster dealer…

Weekend Update

Written by on 19th August 2013 in Blog POSTS with 2 Comments

My weekends lately are filled with design appointments and shopping – pretty much a design nerds dream.  But it is starting to catch up to me a little..I’m pooped!

Let’s see….I bought a rug at ecarpetgallery- the prices and selection are insane.  Ive been getting clients to buy rugs here for months and finally treated myself to one too! 9×12 for $600. come on!

I did a little sewing for my friends over at The Housse and made a boring dog bed into a beauty with a coordinating pillow for the human bed, of course ;)

I painted creamy beige and calming whites in a client’s home as we make the choices for paint and flooring! Exciting. My fave is OC 5 Maritime White

I also started working with another new client and her love of bold colours and ethnic patterns got me all excited so of course I acted like a total dork at the appointment clapping my hands and High fiving her. OMG I know, I know… Meh, I’m gonna hope it was endearing. Check out the Inspiration pics she sent me!

Written by on 3rd June 2013 in Blog POSTS with 3 Comments

Kids are Cool.  This weekend I had the pleasure of using my decorating skills to make a little girl very happy and guess what…it made me happy too! If you’ve been following along there is a second room too. But I’m not finished yet – so I’ll reveal that one in a week or so.  In the meantime here’s what I did (with mom’s help of course)

This Room is all about re-use and recycling of furniture and accessories and I made the pillows and bedding to get a custom colour combo and perfect patterns for less…

Pillow Puzzle for a Friend

Written by on 6th May 2013 in Blog POSTS with 4 Comments

A month ago one of my best blogging friends asked for some help with pillows for her living room. Her room was being featured because of a new light fixture she installed from Rejuvenation.  The challenge was to make everything around the new light look fab too.  I used her amazingly cool vintage poster art as a jump point and headed straight to Etsy where all the greatest pillows live. Here is how it looked before …

And here it is with the new light and some pillow love…BTW visit her site for a chance to wine a $100 gift card to Rejuvenation!

Here’s an example of one of the pillow puzzles I drafted for her to consider…and then I just gave her the links to the Etsy sellers and she was off to the races!

New Project – Boys Room

Written by on 4th May 2013 in Blog POSTS with 1 Comment

Lately I’ve started a new project for a Boys room. I love the cool blues and relaxed feeling we are going to create by using casual industrial style pieces with art and accessories that are a nod to his interests. Stay tuned for updates on this project!

Chalk Paint Adventure – Girls Rooms

Written by on 29th April 2013 in Blog POSTS with 3 Comments

This weekend my client and I sanded the chalk painted furniture for the girls rooms that we painted last weekend. It was a messy business but when you have a small budget you gotta be prepared to work your butt off...and let me tell you this lady is a work horse! The whole process has been so fun!

weekend update

And, on Saturday when it started raining we packed it in and went to Home Sense/Home Goods…I found this DVF coverlet that whispered to me that it wants to be a headboard…we’ll see…

Little Girl Room No. 2

Written by on 17th April 2013 in Blog POSTS with 3 Comments

So I have finished my concepts for the two rooms and my fabric order has been placed. yay! One room is a little more bright, and the other a little more pink.  To save money I have used some of the same fabrics in both spaces, and we are using the same chalk paint but on different pieces. If you’ve ever had two little girls, you must know the importance of having everything equal, but different….it’s not easy. But I think I accomplished it.  Painting furniture this weekend!! Keep following along with the progress and email me if you have any questions!
