And a Hero Come’s Along – Herowork in Victoria

Written by on 16th July 2014 in Blog POSTS with 0 Comments

I have a really exciting announcement about a new project I’m involved with! herowork logohomelessIn addition to servicing my amazing group of clients in Victoria I am also taking on a very special project this fall through the Herowork Program. I will be decorating one of four apartments along side three other designers that will be used by the Threshold Housing Society of Victoria.  This tremendous organization is committed to providing safe housing for local youth at risk of homelessness and this project will be a great help.  Some amazing benefactors have come forward to help jump start this renovation and even more amazing local businesses are stepping up to donate time, expertise, supplies and funds to this very worthy cause.  I’m really lucky to be a part of it and I hope you will follow along and even participate if you can. A call for Herowork volunteers in Victoria will be coming soon!

Do You Tulu?

Written by on 10th June 2014 in Blog POSTS with 0 Comments

The original shag carpet from the middle east , known as a Tulu,  fits perfectly into the urban bohemian interiors that so many of my clients are loving right now. This picture from ABC carpet and home featuring rooftop Tulu rugs captures the bohemian girl trend perfectly.

Antique Tulu carpets are known for their funky colour combinations and irregular shapes. Think of them this way… Fuzzy Fraggle meets Kilim rug.

This week on Used Victoria I spotted a crazy good deal on a little brass and glass table with wheels. If you are trying to achieve a glam look on a budget these are the kinds of pieces you need to find. I have shown two good examples of how a versatile piece like this can be put to work at home. Pic is the link as usual.  Beautiful photos from Lonny Magazine

Another Design Plan – Nailed It

Written by on 20th March 2014 in Blog POSTS with 0 Comments

Every time I meet with a new client I am so excited to get my ideas down and share them ASAP.  You can imagine me at the consultation…arms waving around…heart pumping…I really do LOVE my job!  And it’s so amazingly rewarding when I hear back from clients that they loved it.  I recently met with a couple and did this board for them and they sent me such a super nice note saying I absolutely “nailed it”. As if that didn’t make my week. Their style is rustic modern with lots of ethnic influences and I tailor each of my plans to every individual taste and lifestyle. I can do the same for you,…what’s your style?

This week on Usedvictoria.com I spotted another modern marvel for my tUSEDay VICTORIA Pick of the week. I like this vintage teak desk as a bedside table because it’s only 29 3/4″ high. A simple basket below, or may a dog bed?  depending on the size of your best friend of course. Pic is the link

Artist Wes Lang

Written by on 13th March 2014 in Blog POSTS with 0 Comments

I don’t exactly have my finger on the pulse of the art scene in New York and LA, but I sure wish I did because I would have found Wes Lang allot sooner. I actually have a Grateful Dead T shirt that I love with this first image on it and I didn’t know who the artist was.  My bad.  His bleak and iconic images are stirring and controversial to some, and for others simply and honestly pay homage to unresolved historical issues and his affection for the Grateful Dead. Either way, I was completely drawn into his interesting body of work this week and thought I’d share a couple and the link for his book here.  Love his work…Check him out! All photos sourced to Wes Lang’s blog, pics are the link
