Moss St. Basement Suite – Before and After
I’m happy to report that my project on Moss St. is almost finished. This basement suite was a complete gut job and I was hired to make it comfortable, casual and durable enough to work as a rental property.
When I first saw it , it looked like this…
I knew I needed to lighten up the wall colour and I was inspired by all the beautiful green outside.
The kitchen eating area is tiny but functional. In my usual way, I sourced an awesome bench seat on Used Victoria for 50 bucks. The cushion for it is still in progress, but this little dining space has all you could need complete with a star chart to gaze at over your morning coffee.
As with many of my projects, I made the throw pillows using a mix of African inspired prints.
A vintage poster in shades of green was my inspiration and as luck would have it, I found great Green bottles all over this summer. They have a cool vintage quality that I love.
Extra storage is found in a wooden Box used as a side table, and the fantastic Glass lamp was a score from Target.
The Murphy Bed is expertly made and installed by my friends at Murphy Wall Beds of Canada. A perfect fit in an imperfect old house…Love those guys!
The exposed brick is a great feature of this little suite. I highlighted the vintage feel with a retro inspired transit blind that I custom made with Victoria neighborhoods.
I love infusing West Coast First Nations Art into all of my projects. This black and white Clinton Work Print was a splurge, the others are art cards that I framed.
This is the vintage poster that inspired the whole concept of the room.
And here was my client proposal a few months ago…
I could do it for you too. If you want some help making the place you live a place you love, contact me….I can help!
